May 10th, Shout! Factory Presents A Sensational Concert DVD And Companion CD Commemorating The 25th Anniversary Of Their Historic Debut Album "LOS ANGELES" The musical history of Los Angeles can be divided into two distinct eras: "Before X" and "After X." A new performance DVD from Shout! Factory, X: Live In Los Angeles, commemorates the 25th anniversary of their debut album, "Los Angeles". The original band, comprised of Exene Cervenka, John Doe, Billy Zoom and D.J. Bonebrake, has come together once again to rock this milestonewith a 21 song set of favorites, plus bonus acoustic duets and a photo gallery. A complementary audio version of X: Live In Los Angeles will be available on CD; both DVD and CD are scheduled for a May 10th release. The core of X Live In Los Angeles is a concert filmed on the Sunset Strip, the Saturday night following Thanksgiving, 2004. Twenty of the songs are X originals, drawn from their extensive back catalog. The final encore, The Doors' "Soul Kitchen" had been a standout track on their 1980 "Los Angeles" album, produced by The Doors' Ray Manzarek. Just before the show, Cervenka and Doe taped acoustic duet versions of "See How We Are" and "True Love" as DVD bonus elements. "Billy Zoom's Photo Gallery" collects many of the highlights from Zoom's personal collection of photographs taken from the stage, answering fans' long time question: "Is there film in that camera?" Formed by Doe and Zoom in 1977, X rose rapidly to become a focal point of the local scene. The band - like those of a long decade earlier -- brought together folk and rock influences. But this time, the "rock" wasn't that of the British Invasion, but of the emerging and exciting punk scene. Doe and Cervenka shared vocal and writing duties (Doe also playing bass guitar), with drummer Bonebrake and Zoom's rockabilly-styled lead guitar bringing their own elements to the band's sound. In addition to their own success as a recording and touring act, X formed the focal point of a new Los Angeles scene. Their music focused on the city, people and experiences they knew, and their success helped bring attention to other brash young bands forming at about the same time - not to mention encouraging others yet to come. Cervenka stood as a role model for future female punk singers; and with her bandmates, shared a visual appeal that was as striking as their musicianship.
