THE DARKROOM HONORS LOS ANGELES PUNK ROCK THROUGH THE BAND “X”, WITH A PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT AND CELEBRATION BEGINNING APRIL 16TH WHAT: In continuation of The Darkroom’s photographic retrospectives honoring influential bands and musicians, the Melrose bar will recognize the groundbreaking Los Angeles punk rock band X. The exhibit, debuting Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 7-10 p.m., features exclusive snapshots by prominent rock photographer Michael Hyatt, and highlights the band’s definitive significance in the city and music history. The print collection, documenting X, invites guests to revel in the Los Angeles-formed group’s legacy, which was among the first wave of ground-breaking punk artists who paved the way for rebellious American punk in the 1970’s. To coincide with the two-month exhibit, specialty themed cocktails and bites named after X songs and albums will be available paying homage to their music, including: White Girl with lemon-basil infused rum, crème de pêche, pineapple gomme, and coconut-infused sparkling water Big Black Sun with tequila, mint, passion fruit, orange, and a blueberry/mint syrup float Hungry Wolf Burger with white cheddar, bacon, and honey butter The Darkroom’s celebration of the Los Angeles punk scene continues throughout the weekend, culminating on Saturday, April 18th at 4:30 p.m. with a New Orleans-style memorial procession paying tribute to local punk icons of times past—Darby Cash of the Germs, Lux Interior of the Cramps, and Jeffrey Lee Pierce from Gun Club. Punk enthusiasts can join in honoring deceased rock stars on Saturday’s march through the Melrose neighborhood, beginning and ending at The Darkroom. Those who wear a black armband will receive one complimentary cocktail at the conclusion of the parade at The Darkroom, where they can peruse the art exhibit, sip libations, and mingle with other likeminded fans.
